you want a better image editor than Microsoft Paint but are not ready
to invest in an expensive program, then consider using RealWorld Paint.
You can use the free image editor to either edit existing images or
create new ones from scratch. Although the software includes some
powerful features you will not typically find in programs in the same
category, it is still relatively easy to use.
RealWorld Paint Features
Using RealWorld Paint
We were pleased to find that RealWorld Paint was compatible with our existing projects. The program can import and export different image files with layers. For example, it imports Photoshop's .psd files with selected layer styles and then converts them to its own native layer styles.
The program gave us plenty of flexibility. We could change object shapes and colors in vector layers whenever we wanted and design arbitrary shapes using a great Shape tool.
The process of creating animated GIFs was relatively straight forward. We pasted pictures from the clipboard to create new frames. It is also possible to drag and drop pictures from a file manager into the workspace. We then modified the frames as normal layered images. Using the built-in animated GIF optimizer was easy.
As a free image editor, RealWorld includes:
RealWorld Paint.COM is a fun and nifty image viewer and editor. RealWorld Paint.COM can display images using any zoom factor and always shows 100% accurate preview of the drawn shape. Tooltips are displayed throughout the user interface to explain meaning of controls. After a geometric shape is added to an image, control handles appear and users can further adjust the shape. New points can be added to poly-lines, curves and polygons by dragging a handle of an edge.
RealWorld Paint.COM allows you to edit pictures with layers and assign effects to every layer. A layer can have for example a bevel effect active giving all shapes a 3D look and feel.
RealWorld Paint.COM has much hidden power under the hood and harbors features unexpected in a freeware image editor. Many of its drawing tools and image filters are able to do gamma-aware blending and color gradient interpolation, producing correct colors by default.
Beside the ability to use native plug-ins for virtually everything (filters, tool, fills, windows, codecs, storage, ...), RealWorld Paint.COM is also able to use the vast amount of plug-ins compatible with Adobe Photoshop.
